The Gibson SG Standard started appearing in 1966, displacing the smaller, treble-side pickguard, offering much more protection to the top of the guitar during enthusiastic use.

The SG itself was originally introduced as the 1961 Les Paul, but without Les Paul’s input and at the end of his endorsement contract. For various reasons, the Les Paul name was dropped for 1963 production and has been the SG or ‘Solid Guitar’ since.

The Gibson SG Standard rocks the classic looks and features associated with the late 60’s style SG models sought after by many. A rounded profile mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, long tenon 19th fret neck joint, and a solid mahogany body provide the backbone for singing sustain. The 490R and 490T Alnico II pickups provide the power to drive. A black, 5-ply, full-face pickguard set this SG Standard apart from others… a truly versatile classic!

This guitar is used but still in great shape overall. There are some blemishes and scratches throughout the guitar from normal use but nothing major that would affect the functionality or sound. Electronics are working and tested. Little to no fretwear. Setup and adjusted and cleaned by us!
